Key Achievements of the organization
  1. The institution has stood the test of time (almost two decades), retained its original objectives, modified some and also included new objectives to become more and more relevant to the need of the community.
  2. We rose to the occasion, when an 8 year old boy from a poor parent who needed an urgent heart operation and could accomplish the job free of charge with the help of our associates.
  3. Again through our routine activities of Genetic  Counseling, we could impart latest scientific and technical expertise to tell the family the choices they had in treatment, diagnosis, management and expectations from the child with disability. We have  counseled more than 200 cases over the years.
  4. Community Mobilization towards healthy behavioural changes has been our pride. In Kaukepara a minority village where the youth have come forward in 2003, until in 2009 when a primary health centre could materialised by Canadian Pharmacy.
  5. We are not judge-mental in our attitude, when we try to reach out to the target groups  be it the clandestine sex worker or an elderly  in crisis.
  6. We took up the challenge of HIV/AIDS prevention in a clandestine target population of sex girls in North eastern metropolis of  Calcutta and in the end of 3 years in 2008 were successful in delivering STI treatment to more than 3000 women of the target population. The evaluation pointers (as set by NACO) matched that of the best practice IT projects.
  7. We have tried to help the individual in a sensitive and holistic manner only after assessing his/her perception of the need. Thus we have solved family disputes, rendered legal aid, rendered awareness and treatment as per WHO guidelines, formed and nurtured 300 self help groups and directly linked them with bank loans, held vocational trainings and set up entrepreneurship.
  8. Awareness Generation through Seminars, Campaigns and Camps have proven useful in our path of action.
  9. Last but not the least, the organization was given the JESSOP'S BHARAT NIRMAN AWARD 2005 for AREAS OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT.
